The Last Man on Earth: Season 1, Episode 13: Screw the Moon

I hoped this would be the way things went. This was a fitting end to a good first season. Of course Tandy oversold his “kill Phil” plan to Todd and even that formerly oblivious fool realized the same plan had been used on him. Tandy found himself truly alone after bringing so many people together around him. He’s definitely an a**, but all of these people were alone before seeing his “Alive in Tucson” signs. They have their own small community now and it’s all thanks to him. That just go to show how quickly people forget the good in favor of remembering the bad.

The worst part of it all for him was to see Carol with Phil. They were having sex for fun and didn’t have to get married. Of course that’s the worst thing in the world to Tandy. He had gotten married and divorced over sex he assumed was all he could get. The sad truth is the fact that he was so desperate for it, that he never even thought about asking if they could engage in recreational relations in the first place. That’s the Phil Tandy Miller charm. Oversell and under think anything.

There isn’t too much to say about the episode that wasn’t said about the others, seeing as how the last one was clearly a set up for this one. This show has done a really good job at being interesting, even though I’m still not a huge fan of the deceptive nature of its name. That being said, after getting kicked out of town by Phil, even after being promised a truce, he will still be the only man on his world.

Poor Tandy, he can never go back to the home he grew up in. Phil, Todd and the girls are a bunch of ingrates! They should have said something to stop Phil when he violated the terms of the truce. I knew I didn’t like that guy when he showed up. I only hope that next season will continue to show some of the goings on in Tucson. Maybe Carol will straighten Tandy, now Phil again, out.

Glad to see those two back together and willing to start over. Maybe this time Phil will get his act together. The ending was also pretty cool though. The moving along, combined with the reveal of one more survivor of the virus is a pretty good cliffhanger and a decent enticement for returning to watch season two. Good job “Last Man on Earth.” I’ll see you next year! Hopefully you’ll have more to say about the virus by then.
