iZombie: Season 1, Episode 11: Astroburger
Liv and Blaine finally run into each other again. Maybe that’s not very accurate since Blaine actually shows up at her job and looks for her. After the events of the past couple of episodes, one could practically feel the hatred emanating off of our heroine. She was pretty smart to refrain from poisoning him. Her reasoning was sound as well, but I wouldn’t have been surprised if she didn’t care if it killed them both. He killed the one man she could be truly honest with and that’s kind of a big deal, especially since she watched it happen.
Clive is definitely noticing the changes in Liv and I’m still wondering if he’s going to find out the truth before the end of this season. I’m sure he will eventually, but I’m wondering if he can figure it out soon. Also his “pregnancy pose” was hilarious, because we don’t get a lot of silly out of him very often. He did notice her psychoses kicking in at the vending machine though, so we’ll see. Just look at his reaction to her planting the drugs at the orderly’s apartment. He’s a smart cop, he just needs to know that zombies exist and he’ll figure her out immediately.
How about Ravi huh? He’s still the most charming and useful character on the show. Peyton definitely agrees, she gave him some after what I think is their first date. Good on you, Ravi! You more than deserve. Now he actually deserves much more, because he’s found a cure for the zombie condition in that little rat who he actually found the formula for zombie creation with. He’s just awesome. Why Blaine hasn’t tried to convert him, I really don’t know. I guess Suzuki is a good choice because of his position and he actually figures stuff out pretty well, but he’s not nearly as awesome as Ravi. Ravi’s the man!
I thought this show was going to definitely be just murder of the week with a twist, but it’s proving to be so much more. Of course there’s a mystery every week, but it’s really only starting to be a device for more interesting brains for Liv to consume. It’s cool that the murders are solved, but that aspect of the show has definitely become the third concern after the main story against Blaine and the drama between the cast of characters. I definitely though Scott E. might live longer though. At least I’m positive that his footage of Liv chowing down is going to bite her in the a** at some point. It’s too big to leave there.
The shenanigans with the brains were amazing here. They really did a good job at making me think the worst of her psychosis was hearing pictures of the devil talk. They even made it much worse with the Johnny Frost reveal. I was wondering what the hell was wrong with him, because he was being such a constant TV personality. It was one of those in your face moments that you feel stupid for not having figured it out earlier.
The fact that they did it twice was the clincher! Major’s happiness should have been obvious because he’s been so haunted all season. It was easy to doubt though, because one might have thought he was just on good meds since he had just left a mental institution. I thought Liv might finally be headed toward a happily ever after, particularly once she confessed the truth to him. Unfortunately she was having more delusions and he wasn’t there for most of it. It was clever because her previous delusions were based on Scott E.’s issues so why wouldn’t she have her own.
Zombies have ruined Major’s life, so he wants to kill them all. I’m sure he believes they all work for Blaine and there are no good zombies in the world, so of course he hates them. Liv is forever stuck at a distance from him, or at least just until he learns the truth about her and they kiss and make up. I wouldn’t be more surprised if he died though. This show is starting to make me expect the unexpected, which is a great thing in the world of television. Now I have to go back and watch it again to see if there’s any indication of Major’s absence during the movie night. I’m confident it’ll be consistent though.
