Grimm Season 5 Episode 8: Reptile Dysfunction Review

This week’s Wessen of the week was a loch ness monster with a penchant to go jaws on people with guns. In case, you still haven’t gotten around to watching this Friday’s episode of Grimm spoiler alert. Things started off sweet and innocent as a young couple ventured into the woods that housed a lake.Things quickly turned deadly when they came across a water creature that was hired to scare them to drum up business for a dying lakeside company. Once the couple spots the creature that’s when our story unfolds.
Across town Trubel (Jacqueline Toboni) leads Nick (David Giuntoli) to a meet up with Juliett (Bitsie Tulloch), Meisner (Damien Puckleer) where they let him in on their little secret, they’re working for a secret government agency that is fighting a war against Black Claw. Anyone else find their rooms disturbing they’re like high-class jail cells? I think Juliett/Eve’s behaviour is the most disturbing thing about the whole encounter. She harshly tells Nick to get over everything because the woman he knew is dead and in the same breathe she says the only thing she regrets is that he wasn’t able to marry Juliett. I have so many feels about this whole diabolical that I made a YouTube post about.
In my humble opinion, the subplot of the Loch Ness monster like Wessen isn’t great so I’m glossing over it a bit (okay A LOT). Nick and Hank are basically called out by a local sheriff who is investigating the murder of two people who are killed by this water creature. So sadly no Wu (Reggie Lee) to add his classic one-liners. Boo, more Wu scenes are the highlight of Grimm.
The more interesting story involves Rosalee (Bree Turner) who keeps getting letters from her ex-boyfriend, or from the sound of things a stalker, seeing as Rosalee tells Monroe ( Silas Weir Mitchell) they didn’t date. I’m not sure if this new development is added for drama for Rosalee and Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) to deal with as a couple or drama regarding the Black Claw and the death of the whole counsel except Alexander. Well…see
Missing in action is Adeline,(Claire Coffee), which I kind of appreciate she has only been taking care of baby Kelly and not doing much of anything else. What happened to the badass hexenbiest we all loved to hate? What you do get are snippets of Wu, Hank (Russel Hornsby), and Captain Renard,(Sasha Roiz)what is up with this mayor campaign? So weird.
This week I feel a little let down by everything that transpired in the episode it just wasn’t something I was into last week’s episode was way more entertaining and filled with more action. It was a decent filler episode.
