Doctor Who: Season 9 Episode 2: The Witch’s Familiar

I had to watch this episode three times total before I could sit still and try to write this review. I love Missy. She’s ever so…. Naughty. Mental…. Relatable. For me at least. In theory the Master storyline is as old and revisited as the Daleks one, but I don’t get bored with it the same way.  To be fair, I didn’t get bored with the Daleks this round at all either. Who would have thought you’d get choked up at the word “exterminate” let alone be on the edge of your seat while that grating Dalek voice screamed it on repeat?

What a roller coaster ride this episode is. The previous episode did a great job of shaking off the summer wait and setting up some interesting material. If Davros is dying why did the Doctor’s confession dial show up?  Why the shame? Is Davros for real!? Is the Doctor!? Can we trust Missy? Is THIS how THAT happened!?  I tried to watch it with an open heart and mind, but it didn’t take long before I became skeptical. The plot twists, wait for it y’all, they won’t disappoint.

Neither with the Daleks, a loathsome creature you’ll finally learn something new about. Exterminate never made so much sense! Watch this one with a fellow Whovian, with plenty of napkins in reach. I cried a few tears sure, but I also spilled my munchies more than once with sudden leaps while crying “Wait- what!?” Ray Bans have never been so cool… and neither has the Doctor. Thank goddess the teasers for next week bring us back to an old school bug hunt style episode, I don’t think my ticker can take this storyline much longer!

I give this episode a firm 10 of 10. 12 even! Capaldi shines in his version of the Doctor brighter then ever, and a path has been paved for a solid season.

Old School Opinionated, but a total Noob about sharing them with the general masses. I’m a self taught Jack of all Trades (Master of None) and spend entirely too much time making things pretty, and no where near enough money doing it. Been floating my Geek Flags Loudly and Proudly since day one. Writing reviews here out of enjoyment, support of all that is Geek-tastic and in a drive to make the internet more then just a hobby.
