Castle: Season 8, Episode 1: XY

Castle0801

I have to admit, the season premieres and finales of this show are always pretty top notch. The writers of this show are very good at hooking the line and reeling the viewer in. Castle and Beckett seem to have one of the most difficult marriages in entertainment history, but I guess that makes it work. They always have to find each other or save each other’s lives so the passion stays high. So much danger and drama must really make them feel alive, especially Castle, since he was a millionaire and all.

We actually didn’t get to see much of the newly christened Captain Beckett at all. She had two small scenes in the entire episode, but they sold it well and Caslte, Ryan and Esposito were full of righteous fury as they searched for her. I like when the recurring villains make comebacks and seeing Senator Bracken back in action was pretty awesome. Jack Coleman has a pretty exciting week with Heroes Reborn starting this week as well. The immense differences in this character and that one are pretty huge.

There are always some pretty tantalizing stuff on this show, which is why I have fallen in love with it. The whole crew is here and even Alexis is shining very brightly, pretty much running Castle’s expensive P.I. office on her own. It’s good that the two of them met Haley as well, she gave some very interesting advice on how to succeed.

This is a show that has proven to be excellent at keeping the long term effects of the characters’ actions and situations. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next. They might even kill Bracken this season like they did with 3XK last year. They don’t mind resolving issues and closing chapters, which is what’s making this show stay so endearing for so long. The characters feel organic.
