Powers: Season 1, Episode 7: You Are Not It
I’m going to start this one off by just mentioning how insanely gorgeous Zora (Logan Browning) is. She just catches my eye so much and the purple and black works so well with her gorgeous bronze skin and heavenly eyes. Man… just… man…
Okay, getting professional: I’m liking the consequences these characters have to deal with due to their actions. Zora is terrified of her image being shattered, because of the lie she is now living. Everyone wants a piece of her, because she took down Wolfe, but there are those who know the truth. Retro Girl seems close to telling on her, but we’ll see where that goes. I just hope we get to see her in some of those Under Armour product placement designs that were presented.
Christian for one, is unaware of what’s going on within him. He now shares a portion of Wolfe’s incredible power, but he has no idea what exactly it is. His hero complex is still running away with him.
Johnny Royale, who’s name is bad a**, is showing how much conscience he actually has. That’s what makes the dynamic between him and Christian so interesting. They’re not that different. They’re both responsible for lost of death. Johnny has killed many with Sway and Christian was the one who chose to let Wolfe live when he could have ended him a long time ago. Now Johnny has to deal with the potential of Wolfe’s influence over those who have taken the drug made from his blood. He could possibly get so many more killed.
Fortunately we saw a bit more of Deena Pilgrim and Simons this episode. Deena showed a bit more personality and actually smiled and Simons is suffering since he is now alone under the drainer. Hopefully they continue with this trend of major character development and show us much more complete characters in this very interesting world they have created. The rich histories some of these characters have with each other are golden and make them all more endearing.
I still don’t feel too concerned with what’s happening with Calista. Hopefully that changes soon since she has taken Sway. Considering how important she is in the comics, I think it’s safe we can assume she’ll survive the drug. I’m thinking her arc will improve by the end of the season.
The stuff with Krispin, Chaotic Chick and Kaotic Chic is more interesting now. Their anti-powers revolution is building in momentum and now a power has been murdered due to it. I know I keep beating this horse, but I hope this is a lead up to the “Who Killed Retro Girl” arc. Since they’re actually starting off by showing how great she is, I think the story might potentially have an even greater impact than in the comics.
This show is shaping up to be quite the attention grabber and I will definitely continue to watch. Please just give me more Wolfe… and Zora. Definitely more Zora.
