I am not a fan of Will Forte. I have always felt at though he was a weak cast member that a down period of SNL was trying to force on me. MacGruber and the Falconer did not impress me even a little bit. I was not even going to give this show a shot until a couple of people asked me to review it via Facebook.

I laughed my a** off. I went in with a large amount of skepticism. “There’s a reason we haven’t seen Will Forte in a while,” and “How could they possibly have a show that only has one character?” were the things that were on my mind. I was pleasantly surprised that his unanswered conversations with God and the television were really good ways to show his thoughts and set up plot points. I like how they quickly got his search for other people out of the way in the first three or so minutes of the show to get to how he lived as a lone survivor.

I thought the actor fit the part very well and his reactions to his situation, though somewhat ridiculous, were very believable. I could’ve seen myself making a few of those insane decisions out of pure boredom. The margarita pool and beer mouthwash were absolutely things I would’ve eventually tried!

Just when I starting thinking it could wear thin really fast as a series, Carol showed up. Played to crazy perfection by the underutilized Kristen Schaal. It was so perfect to see him regret asking for female companionship after meeting her. She was his picture of an absolutely contemptible woman, but he really just couldn’t walk away from the company after months and months of solitude.

The ending was a very good lead up into what’s going to come next, I can’t wait to see the next episode! I hope the rest of the season feels this fresh!
